Spacious & Comfy: My OneTigris Stella Wild Camp Review

Why the OneTigris Stella Is a Solid Option for Wild Camping

If you've been following my wild camping adventures for a while, you’ll know I tend to rotate my tents depending on conditions and mood. The OneTigris Stella has been part of my kit for a while now, and after taking it out for a recent woodland wild camp, I thought I’d give you a full breakdown of why this tent could be perfect for your summer and three-season camps—and where it might fall short.

First Impressions of the OneTigris Stella

I set up camp on a stunning patch of private woodland (with landowner permission, of course), and the Stella was the tent of choice. Straight away, what struck me was the space. This isn’t a cramped one-person bivvy—you’ve got enough room to sit up, store gear, and just breathe a bit.

That said, the floor is thin. If you’re considering this tent, I highly recommend buying the matching footprint. It adds that extra layer of protection from sharp ground debris and keeps moisture at bay.

Sleeping Setup & Gear Loadout

Even though it’s technically spring, it still dropped to about 3-4°C during the night. So I brought out:

  • Kilos Gear Aero Cloud Elite mat – Thick, comfy, and excellent insulation

  • Rab Ascent 900 sleeping bag – Down-filled and warm enough for most UK three-season conditions

The inside of the Stella felt spacious and safe. While I missed the extra warmth retention from my Hilleberg, I still slept comfortably.

Cooking, Calories & That Spit-Roast Chicken

Part of why I love wild camping is the freedom to cook over a real fire. And on this trip, I went all in—spit-roast Nando’s chicken over the flames.

Key gear for the cook-up:

  • Foldable fire pit (landowner-approved)

  • New bushcraft billy can – Holds about 1L, comes with a handled lid

  • BCB steel mug system for quick coffee boiling

  • FlexTail Gear air pump (which also doubled as a fire starter booster)

I kept it light during the day with only 500 calories before camp—still in a calorie deficit from my post-Christmas weight gain. For those who don’t know, I’ve dropped about 8 stone over the last couple of years, and camping plays a huge part in maintaining both my physical and mental health.

Tent Performance Overnight

So, let’s get to the part you’re probably most interested in—how did the OneTigris Stella actually perform overnight?

Pros:

  • Loads of space inside

  • Easy to set up

  • Great airflow options with the dual-layer walls

Cons:

  • Thin groundsheet without the footprint

  • Slight condensation if not well-ventilated

  • Not as warm as a Hilleberg in colder temps

Is it a four-season tent? I’d say not really—at least not in the UK winter. But for spring to autumn, it’s a solid option, especially when you want comfort and space.

Morning Mishaps and the Ultimate Mocha

I’d planned a fry-up with eggs and turkey bacon, but forgot the frying pan—classic. So breakfast ended up being:

  • Dropped bread (rescued with a dust-off)

  • A mix of 2x Nescafé 3-in-1 sachets

  • 1x Snickers hot chocolate

Together, that made the most indulgent trail mocha I've ever had—absolutely banging.

Final Thoughts on the OneTigris Stella

The Stella delivers space and comfort, and it's perfect for summer or three-season wild camping in the UK. If you're not battling freezing wind or snow, and you want a tent you can live in—not just sleep in—it ticks a lot of boxes.

If you're after ultralight minimalism or extreme durability, there are other tents I'd point you towards. But if you're looking for a budget-friendly, comfortable woodland basecamp, the Stella is worth checking out.
